The project
The Project - Abstract
Our project is a redesign of the "Entrepreneurship & Impact'' course at our university, which is being led by Betty Huerta from PLNT. The current education system is not providing students with the tools they need to start their own businesses, such as entrepreneurial skills and knowledge about the tax system, types of businesses, negotiating skills, and presenting skills. As a result, only a small fraction of students who consider starting a business actually go through with it. To tailor the syllabus to the needs and motivations of our prospective students, we are conducting research through a market analysis that includes a questionnaire and in-person interviews. Our goal is to empower more students to start their own businesses and make a positive impact in the world.
In order to create this redesign, we began by conducting research to better
understand the motivations and needs of our prospective students. We designed a
questionnaire and are also considering in-person interviews to gather this
information. We then worked with Betty Huerta to redesign the syllabus of the
"Entrepreneurship & Impact" course to better meet the needs of
our prospective students and provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to start their own businesses.
The result of our efforts is a redesigned "Entrepreneurship & Impact"
honours course that is tailored to the needs and motivations of our prospective
students and is intended to empower them to start their own businesses and make
a positive impact in the world. We believe that this course will address the
gap in the education system that is preventing many students from pursuing
their entrepreneurial goals and will help more students make a positive impact in the world.
